June 9, 2014 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – Taking part in Saturday’s Kansas Grand Prix, the event combining the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Prototype Challenge class and the IMSA Cooper Tires Prototype Lites class, Duncan Ende would qualify and finish in fourth position in the first segment of the race.

The Kansas Grand Prix featured two forty-five minute races with the Prototype Challenge class. For the no. 09 Lino’spresso USA / RSR Racing Oreca FLM09, Ende would qualify the car and contest the first race. His teammate, Bruno Junqueira, would contest the second race, starting from Ende’s finishing position from the first race.

Ende would qualify in fourth position for the first race on the roval at Kansas Speedway. In the traffic jam of the first corner, however, Ende would spin and fall down the order. With the help of a couple of full-course caution periods, Ende would come back through the field to finish in fourth position.

“It’s tough to be on the outside for the start of a race at Kansas, because you basically just get hung out to dry,” said Ende. “I was trying to protect my position going into the braking zone for the start, but I locked up the rear brakes and had a spin which put me all the way to the back. So, I had to get going and had to come through the field. It was a lot of drama to get back to where I started.”

In the second race of the day, Junquieria would be forced wide at the start and drop a couple of positions. He would ultimately finish in sixth position.

“It was a rough weekend for us in Kansas,” said Ende. “We weren’t able to make up ground in the championship like we were hoping. But it was good to see a strong crowd there for a day of sports car racing, which made for a very enjoyable weekend. I hope we gained some new fans this weekend and that we’ll see them again next year.”

The next round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will be the Sahlen’s Six Hours at the Glen, on June 27-29, at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.
