After a win at Lime Rock, Ende, Junqueira, and RSR Racing are looking for another
July 17, 2013 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – Two weeks after scoring his first American Le Mans Series win of the year at Lime Rock Park, Duncan Ende – along with teammate Bruno Junqueira and the RSR Racing team – head to the track formerly known as Mosport full of confidence and with high hopes for a repeat performance.
Canadian Tire Motorsports Park is one of the circuits that Ende looks forward to the most on the ALMS schedule. The fast, daunting circuit is a favorite of Ende’s and one which will challenge the drivers not only to extract the most out of their machines, but to manage traffic at a track where large amounts of time can be won or lost in the track’s fast corners at this weekend’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Challenge.
“Without a doubt, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park is one of the most exciting tracks we go to all year,†said Ende. “How can you not love this track? It is fast, has blind corners, and is really fun in a Prototype Challenge car. It’s a big challenge and it becomes an even bigger challenge when you are fighting for position or dealing with the GT class traffic. You can gain or lose a lot of time in a short period of time if you are held up for a corner or two, so managing traffic is as important as ever.â€
Ende is eager to get back in the no. 9 RSR Racing Oreca FLM09 after enjoying a strong run two weeks ago at Lime Rock Park. During the opening stint Ende went a lap up on the rest of the Prototype Challenge field – which was the third race in a row that Ende had led the PC class during the opening stages. On the back of that strong run, Junqueira guided the car home to the duo’s first win of the year.
“After a couple of races where we were able to lead but had things happen in the second half of the race, it was a great boost to have everything come together to get that win,†said Ende. “Obviously, we’d like to do it again this weekend. The Prototype Challenge class is really competitive, so I’ll be doing anything I can to give Bruno an edge when he gets into the car to bring it home. Of course I want to keep the car clean and bring it in with no damage, but if we keep having good stops and I can give him the car in the lead, it can’t hurt.â€
The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will be shown on ESPN2 on Sunday, June 21 at 1:00 PM ET, and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com starting at 11:45 AM ET on Sunday, June 21.
